My Humanitarian Experience

One of the most amazing jobs I had in the past was on Sexual Reproductive Health under Global Fund project for United Nations in West Africa. As referral and field officer at a time, my job was to convey a clear-cut message that is targeted towards the community changing their sexual risky behaviors. My team and I worked hard, counseled and gave hope to people who were HIV positive and needed care. As a humanitarian, I wanted to be more involved with human affairs; I wanted to push boundaries, I wanted to be different and give power to people by educating them on health issues that concerns them.

The United Nations project opened my eyes to human pains, fears and struggles on every level. The life lessons learnt from this experience has changed the way I look at life and people around me.
In the United States today, 1.1 million people are still living with HIV/AIDS but the good news is; new infection rate has remained at 50,000 for more than a decade now, but the fight is still not over.

As entrepreneurs and future business leaders, our health and that of the people around us should be our concern. Our health is priceless and so should the health of those around us. We did not happen by chance, our life is designed with a purpose, and we have to take care of that life in order for us to have our career dreams fulfilled. When we look out for each other, then we can boldly say, we are true citizens of the world.

Me again

What is it that has your complete attention? What are you passionate about? Are you excited about the future that is ahead of you? Do you look forward to it or are you clouded by life's familiar worries and pain that often take away beautiful smiles? Some of us had to go through life doing so many things before finding that special thing that gave us that sense of belonging. Our current job or career may not satisfy or please but it is a way for us to rediscover and find our path as we master the skills of working with different people.

Good things and the bad things are allowed to us for us to have a perfect life full of experience that will help us grow ourselves and others around us. What if our lives are void of mistakes, how do we learn and get on track. What if we never took the first step and fall as children, how do we learn the lessons of getting it right by trying to walk again and again? If something is truly not adding up, then it is time for us to sit down and re-evaluate ourselves and our choices. Create the change only you want to see in your life.

My quote:
It is not possible to just define what purpose is for a vast majority of people by using one singular lens. Find you and your smile will become brighter and better.
